Tiki Dissected Series: Bumatay Mug
Story:
This ceramic mug is inspired by the iconic Tiki carving style of Andreas Bumatay, known for its recessed facial features, radiating oval eyes, and a downturned, groaning mouth. The exterior texture—reminiscent of a pineapple—pays tribute to the original sculptural patterns Bumatay made famous.
In this reimagining, I’ve taken artistic liberty with the cult classic design, transforming it into an anatomical cutaway that reveals what the "bones" of this tiki figure might look like beneath the surface. It’s a creative exploration of form and folklore, merging tradition with a bit of imaginative anatomy.
Each mug comes professionally boxed.
